It’s Wendesday again, which as our regular readers know, means it’s once again time to give something away — hooray! Yep, on top of our regular content — which this week includes: a guide to the just passed Finance Reform bill, thoughts on the future of the automobile, family budgeting tips and a few deals of the day — we also like to give our readers something tangible that they can use on their journey toward financial success. Last week that meant an Amazon gift card. And this week it means a $20 iTunes gift card.
Now, of course, we won’t be able to decide what our winner spends their card on (nor would we want to really), but if the winner wanted to be financially smart, they might decide to use it on a few budgeting applications, or some finance-related audiobooks. Then again, they might just want to opt for the first season of Breaking Bad, or the new Drake album. The choice is yours.

Best advice I ever got was to never get a loan from a financial institution; if times get too rough and you need to ask for financial assistance ask friends or family to float you a loan as they typically don't have interest rates but still know how to find you and hold you accountable for their money. ;)

"If you don't care about your money, it won't care for you." Too many people are in set-it-and-forget-it mode when it comes to 401k and retirement accounts. If you don't make your money work for you, it won't be there for you when you need it.

The best financial advice I ever received was from my parents. When I was a kid, my brother and I received 25 cents per week each for an allowance. They told us that if we wanted a special toy, we had to save up our money for it, and couldn't borrow from anyone to get it ahead of time. Even now, I pay cash as often as possible, and if I use my credit card, I pay off the entire amount in full monthly. No finance charges for me!

The best advice I've received is to start saving for retirement at least in small amounts early

In my senior econ class we made a chart of someone saving money for retirement early and someone saving later. The person that saved later had to pay more to get less in the end while the other person was the opposite. So I learned to save early!
