IRS Agents love their job, and I have the proof. Take this case, for example.
When Jennifer Kim Tran faced a tax liability of $13,287 for the 2006 and 2007 tax years on an unreported income of $30,334, she didn’t just simply face the music and pay it off. Oh no. She tried to bribe the IRS Agent. With a $100 Starbucks gift card and $1,500 cash.
It’s a fairly reasonable option, don’t you think? I mean, IRS Agents are human, after all, and they need their caffeine just like the rest of us. Hey, $100 is nothing to sneeze at in today’s economy.
IRS Agent, Imad Harrah, wasn’t having it though. When he received the package of goodies, which included promissory notes and the gift card, he decided to play with Jennifer. Harrah gave her a phony document, making her believe that she now had a zero balance. You may find that cruel and unnecessary, but so is Starbucks, so get over it. C’mon, tell me this guy doesn’t love his job?
Jennifer Kim Tran, also known as Kim Oahn Thi Tran, has been charged with bribery in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco. I hope the jury likes fast food, because I hear she’s purchased a bunch of McDonald’s gift cards.
Seriously, folks. Don’t do this. It didn’t work on the playground, and it doesn’t work now that you’re all grown up. Just report your income to the IRS, pay your balance if you have one, and be done with it. Save the Starbucks gift cards for Christmas.
